THE8 of SEVENTEEN Unveils Hyperpop Farewell in Self-Composed Single ‘Love is Gone’

SEVENTEEN member THE8 (디에잇) is set to release a new self-composed digital single that captures the raw ache of parting in an unexpected sonic burst. On May 1, the track “不见了 (Love is gone)” arrives, blending tender sentiments of farewell with the jagged, exaggerated textures of hyperpop.

According to Pledis Entertainment (플레디스 엔터테인먼트), a label under HYBE Music Group, the song’s unpolished emotional arc and near-unfiltered vocals convey the inner fractures and lingering afterimages that follow the departure of someone deeply loved. THE8 wrote the lyrics himself and took an active hand in the composition, marking another step in his evolution as a creator.

A concept teaser unveiled on April 29 teased fragmented electronic sounds paired with an image of THE8 from behind, heightening anticipation for the full release. The piece signals a fresh direction distinct from his previous solo offerings, hinting at an even broader creative range.

Earlier this month, THE8 already showcased his distinctive musical voice with “四月的漂流 (April Drift),” a song he also helped write and compose. That track, likening the arc of love and separation to the passage of seasons, climbed Chinese social media real-time search rankings upon release and secured strong positions on major local music charts.

THE8’s momentum extends beyond the studio to the stage. He will deliver solo performances on both days of the MIDOU Music Festival (咪豆 MUSIC FESTIVAL, 미도 MUSIC FESTIVAL), scheduled for May 1 and 2 in Nanjing (난징), Jiangsu Province (장쑤성).
Fans of K-pop and those drawn to South Korea’s vibrant contemporary music scene will find in THE8’s latest work another window into the depth and experimentation thriving within the industry.
